Lemonade Stand

This week we decided to let the kids have their first lemonade stand!  We used it to teach them about paying tithing, and then we would let them buy a special toy with the rest of the money they earned.  It all began Friday when the kids made their Lemonade Stand sign, then Saturday the kids made double chocolate M&M cookies and snicker doodles to sell.  Finally on Sunday we had our FHE about tithing which included the family tradition of the "Money Toss", and Monday we had our Lemonade Stand.  The kids had so many customers.  They were thrilled!!!  And after paying their tithing, we took them to the store to get the toys they wanted; Ethan a new lego set from The Lego Movie, and Claire a Frozen doll and baby stroller.  Thank you everyone for coming!  It was a very special FHE because of you.

At our FHE, The "Money Toss"- We throw money on the floor, the kids scramble to get as much as they can.  Then we count it and pay tithing from it.  A tradition from Justin's Grandpa Hansen.

Life of Something Like It!

Father's Day Fun

For Father's Day we let good ole Dad sleep in!  I mean what could be a better present than that!  We also offered breakfast in bed, but he declined and opted for cereal of all things.  Anyway, we went to church and offered Dad an afternoon nap, again he declined so mommy got one...Happy Father's Day to me I guess :)  We then gave him gifts of the herb scissors he's been wanting, a fridge pack of rootbeer, and the kids picked out Airheads and Gummy Worms for him.  That night we celebrated with some of Dad's favorites, Potato Pizza and Cheesecake for dessert.  The best part of Father's Day were the fill-in-the-blank "all about Dad" and Grandpa sheets they filled out.  Too funny to hear what they had to say about some of the special guys in their life.  Ha!

 Random Acts of Kindness

This week for Family Home Evening we talked all about kindness.  We even shared some Bible stories of different acts of kindness.  We then let the kids go about doing random acts of kindness for people they chose, each with a note saying something like "Please Enjoy this Random Act of Kindness".  Here's what they did

1.  Mailed stickers to their cousin Gavin
2.  Mailed stickers to their cousin Keaton
3.  Left Salted Caramel Chocolate Hazelnut spread for our Mail Lady
4.  Left Stickers in mailbox of their friends Graham & Clara
5.  Left Stickers in mailbox of their friends Henry and Molly
6.  Left Chocolate candy on the doorstep of Miss Ashley
7.  Left Toilet Paper on the doorstep of the Miss Lorrie
8.  Gave Coloring packs to their friends Colton & Rowan
9.  Left formula on the doorstep of their friend "Baby Josh"
10.  Left $1.50 in quarters taped to the soda machine at our local Walmart

It was a lot of fun driving around trying to be "sneaky", although most locations we were totally busted on delivery :).  The kids had a great time trying to make others happy as they said.  This is something we'll definitely be doing more often.

Blessing Day

Justin's sister, Sarissa, was due just a little under 2 months before our due date (they ended up just 5 weeks apart).  When we were both ginormously pregnant we decided to have the babies blessed the same day in Wisconsin in Justin's parent's church (the one Justin grew up in), and try to get as much family there as possible.  What a wonderful, memorable day for everyone.  Sarissa's in-laws were there, my mother made the 5 hour drive, as well as Justin's parents, 2 other sisters, their brother, a brother-in-law from Minnesota, Justin's grandma Lennie from Idaho, and even Justin's other set of Grandparents from Illinois made the weekend trek...not to mention all those kiddie cousins running around.  It was a very special, and fun, weekend and an even more memorable Blessing Day.  We feel so grateful to everyone who made the trek and feel very, very blessed to have such wonderful people in our lives.  Here are some family pics that we all took after the blessing.

We Love Wisconsin!

We took trip up to Wiscosin this weekend for our little Lennie and her little cousin Owen to be blessed.  We headed up Thursday night, arriving Friday around 2am our time, but that didn't stop us the next day...we headed straight to the dairy farm to see Claire's precious cows.  We also enjoyed a local fish fry dinner, family dinner and smores night on Saturday, and of course our big family luncheon after the blessings on Sunday.  It was a weekend full of family...the best kind of weekend.  Our kids had a BLAST with their cousins...can't wait for the big family camping trip this summer!
